There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not legal. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of luxuries accompanying the casino, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
