Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous comforts in addition to the gambling den, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
